Heute Donnerstag, 11.4. wird die neue Website der TU Wien im Lauf des Vormittags live geschalten. Das Fenster der Welt in die TU Wien zeigt sich nach Relaunch mit neuer Struktur und neuem Look.
Following a very complex and demanding process, the central information sites of TU Wien and the websites of its central services have been restructured and adapted with regard to their content. The joint effort across various areas of responsibility and organisational units succeeded in realising a target-group-specific and contemporary internet presence for TU Wien.
Due to the go-live, TU Wien’s principal domain will change: tuwien.at will become the main URL. The known URL tuwien.ac.at will remain in place for now and points to the new URL. For the time being, e-mail addresses are not affected, they will be addressed in a follow-up project.
Step by step
Starting Thursday, the result of project phase 1 will be online. In phase 2, the websites of the Library, the Continuing Education Center, of TU.it and the Teaching Support Center will be integrated in the new system. Phase 3 will devote itself to already existing Typo3 websites of faculties and institutes.
In parallel to the upcoming phases, the website is constantly improved in terms of its functionality and so far unresolved issues are worked on. Some parts of the website are still in need of their English counterparts, the improvement of accessibility is prioritised and a document management will facilitate finding documents in a timely manner.
The internal area of the TUW website
The TUW internal area provides new features: Employees gain quick access to central services and an additional internal news category offers information on relevant internal topics. The new search engine, Mindbreeze, is hosted at TU Wien, scanning not only web content but also TISS (staff and students, organisational units, courses), the publication database and the research data base.
