Offer Description

The Department of Ecosystem Management, Climate and Biodiversity, Institute of Wildlife Biology and Game Management is currently seeking a Postgraduate Research Associate (temporary replacement).

Extent of employment: 20 hours per week
Duration of employment: as of now, limited to 29th of February 2028
Workplace: 1180 Vienna
Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1
Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: ¤ 1.888,10
(payable 14 times per year)

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration in the application and implementation of the institute’s research projects, particularly in the ecology of alpine bird species
  • Obtaining a doctorate is desired
  • Publications in specialist journals and participation in (international) conferences
  • Collaboration in national and international cooperation programs
  • Teaching master’s level courses in nature conservation and bird species identification
  • Participation in university self-administration at the institute and in the department


Required skills and qualifications

  • Diploma degree in wildlife ecology and wildlife management or other equivalent university degree
  • Very good German- (C1) and English- (B2) skills written and spoken
  • Extensive experience in research and teaching on ornithological topics, including bird trapping and ringing
  • Proven track record in attracting third-party funding and publishing in scientific journals
  • Experience in leading research teams


Desirable skills and qualifications

  • Experience in database development and management
