Cancer Research Run 2022: ¤200,000 raised for cancer research
A total of around 3,000 runners, including 84 teams from sponsoring or partner companies, ran in support of cancer research at the Medical University of Vienna. This year's 16th Cancer Research Run was therefore able to raise ¤200,000 for research. As every year, 100% of the donations go to fund projects from MedUni Vienna's Cancer Research Campaign. Since the charity event was launched in 2007, it has already funded more than 60 research projects aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancers. This year's donations will be used to fund 14 additional promising projects conducted by MedUni Vienna scientists. These are primarily aimed at advancing the development of personalised therapies in the context of cancer research. The fact that cancer mortality is falling, even though the number of new cases is rising, is largely due to advances in cancer research made possible by the results of basic research.
