With the successful implementation of the joint micro-credential Understanding Europe , the University of Innsbruck and the University of Duisburg-Essen have reached an important milestone in the development of the European Education Area.
Ban on cell phones in schools shows clear positive effects
As part of a cooperation project with the state of Carinthia, the University of Klagenfurt has investigated the effects of the ban on cell phones in Carinthian elementary school, which has been in force since February 2025, and the nationwide regulation on the use of mobile digital devices up to the 8th grade. The accompanying research now available shows The cell phone ban is predominantly viewed positively and leads to noticeable improvements in everyday school life in many areas.
FWF funds research on sex differences in temporomandibular disorders
Benedikt Sagl, Head of the Competence Center AI in Dentistry at the University Clinic of Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna, and Principal Investigator at the Comprehensive Center for AI in Medicine, has received a research grant from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
University of Innsbruck expands its micro-credential portfolio
The University of Innsbruck is expanding its range of micro-credentials and further strengthening its position within the Aurora European Universities Alliance. Alongside established offerings such as -Reading Austria in European and Global Contextand -Climate Action & Sustainability Communication-, the new micro-credential -Sport, Tourism & Sustainable Event Managementhas recently been introduced.

Author Thomas Brezina presented his new book "What your body would say if it could talk" to more than 100 schoolchildren at Vienna City Hall today. The presentation took place as part of a health initiative launched by MedUni Vienna in collaboration with Thomas Brezina.
Balázs Hangya takes up professorship in neurophysiology
Balázs Hangya took up the professorship in neurophysiology (§98) at MedUni Vienna at the beginning of October. He is an expert in neuromodulatory systems and researches how chemical messengers in the brain control learning, memory, attention and decision-making and how they are altered in disease.
