Addressing the opportunities and challenges ahead is challenging for all types of organizations, but for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular; taking into account their much more limited resources. However, SMEs are not only exposed to digitalization but also to a number of additional challenges, e.g. skills shortage, sustainability risks, and succession planning. Against this background, the talk by Susanne Durst will address a number of challenges SMEs are exposed to, digitalization being one of it, with the primary aim to highlight both the need for an even stronger focus on SMEs and more interdisciplinary work.
