Markus Lassnig took over as head of the Master’s degree program in Business Management from Department Head Martina Sageder in September 2024. In his new role, he starts with many ideas and plans for the degree program and now combines teaching and research even more closely.
Markus Lassnig studied at the University of Salzburg and completed his doctorate in internet economics. He also successfully completed the Innovation Management course at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt. As an expert in the fields of digital transformation and innovation management, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role as course director.
Before moving to Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Lassnig worked for many years at Salzburg Research, where he headed COMET competence centers (comparable to the Josef Ressel Centers at the UAS) and was significantly involved in the development of innovations for the tourism, sports and leisure industries. His work also included the management of a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH). Parallel to his professional activities in non-university research, he had already been active as an external lecturer for many years before joining the FH Salzburg full-time.
As a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business and Tourism, Markus Lassnig was heavily involved in teaching in the fields of innovation management and digital transformation. He is also responsible for coordinating the content of the annual "Brennpunkt Innovation" congress, which is scheduled to take place at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences again in May 2025.

Markus also reveals that he has big plans for the course. Intensive work is already underway to update the course in order to align it even more closely with today’s student expectations. The focus is on achieving an optimal work-study balance and teaching practical, modern content. Central topics such as internationalization, digital transformation, sustainability and innovation will continue to play a key role in the future and shape the course.
