Georg Semmler and Alfredo Cristiano De Sá Fernandes have been presented with the Award of Excellence by the Ministry of Science for their outstanding dissertations at MedUni Vienna.
Georg Semmler was honored for his thesis "Non-invasive risk stratification in chronic liver disease". He completed his doctoral studies in applied medical science (N790) in the field of Clinical Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition this year. He was supervised by Mattias Mandorfer.
Alfredo Cristiano De Sá Fernandes received the award for his thesis "Epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of Dendritic Cells by HDAC1". He completed the PhD program N094 in "Inflammation and Immunity" this year. His supervisor was Maria Sibilia.
The Award of Excellence of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has been presented since 2008 to the 40 best graduates of doctoral studies at scientific and artistic universities in the previous academic year. The nominations come from the universities.
