To celebrate 70 years of American studies in Salzburg, the Austrian American Association for American Studies and the University of Salzburg will host the conference "Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? The Changing Nature of American Studies", 3 - 5 November, in Salzburg’s Schloss Leopoldskron.
At the site of Europe’s first American Studies Seminar (1947, now the Salzburg Global Seminar), 50 speakers and 4 invited lecturers will meet to discuss: new discoveries and directions in American studies, the spoils and merits of multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research, transatlantic/pacific mobility, human or digital, America’s image in European culture, past, present, and/or future, writing about the Americas, scholarship and activism, the history of American studies and teaching-related activities in the field.
