Senior Lecturer with Doctorate (all genders welcome)

 

Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)

Minimum salary: €66,532.20 per annum (gross); classification according to collective agreement: Univ-KV: B1 lit.b

Limited to: initially for a limited period of one year, with the option of transitioning to a permanent contract

The Department of Statistics is embedded into the university-s area of key research strength -Multiple Perspectives in Optimization (MPOpt)- and it participates in the thematic doctoral programme and the FWF funded doc.funds doctoral school -Modeling - Analysis - Optimization of discrete, continuous, and stochastic systems-.

Area of responsibility

Tasks and responsibilities:

  •  Autonomous teaching at Bachelor-s and Master-s level in the field of Statistics and Probability of 10 semester hours per week on average using established and innovative methods (e.g. digital teaching)
  • Teaching for Mathematics students and service teaching for students with different backgrounds, in particular for Business, Economics, Robotics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence students
  • Supervision of Bachelor ´s students and Master ´s students (also in cooperation with industry partners)
  • Autonomous scientific work including the publication of research articles in Statistics, Econometrics and/or Probability
  • Active participation in the research activities of the research area and at international conferences
  • Participation in organisational and administrative tasks and in quality assurance measures
  • Participation in public relations and third mission activities


Requirements

Prerequisites for the appointment:  

  • Doctoral degree completed at a domestic or foreign higher education institution in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • Didactic competence and broad teaching experience at higher education institutions using established and innovative methods (e.g. digital teaching)
  • Experience in the (co-)supervision of academic theses
  • Scientific background in Statistics and/or Probability, demonstrated by publications in renowned relevant journals relative to the academic age
  • Experience in the dissemination of scientific results
  • Programming skills (e.g., R, Julia, Python, Matlab, C/C++, ...)
  • Fluency in German and English

Our offer:

The employment contract is concluded for the position as a Senior Lecturer with doctorate and stipulates a starting salary of €4,752.30 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognised in accordance with the collective agreement ).
