Description

The new professor is expected to develop a strong and visible research programme in the area of augmented computational design in architecture, engineering and construction with a focus on artificial intelligence. Possible research areas include generative models, data driven methods, reinforcement learning and computational geometry. Therefore, applicants should bridge the research fields of architecture, engineering, construction and computer science. In addition, a strong commitment to interdepartmental teaching (in German or English) of undergraduate level courses in foundations of computation in design, architecture and engineering as well as graduate level courses is expected.

Requirements

The new professorship will be embedded in Design++, the new Centre for Augmented Computational Design in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdesignplusplus.ethz.ch&module=jobs&id=33509" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdesignplusplus.ethz.ch&module=jobs&id=33509" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://designplusplus.ethz.ch) that integrates artificial intelligence, with a focus on machine learning and extended reality. In this context, the successful candidate will be expected to develop collaborative research projects. Candidates need to hold a PhD degree and combine either (i) an excellent record of accomplishments in computer science with a proven interest in design in architecture, engineering and construction, or (ii) a strong background in architecture or engineering and a proven expertise in computer science. Outstanding academic achievements must be complemented by the ability to lead a research group.
