PhD Position for Characterization and Modeling of Device Reliability

09.08.2018

Description

The Institute for Microelectronics, TU Wien is one of the world's leading research institutes where the reliability of circuit components (especially transistors) is investigated and modelled. In addition to conventional Si transistors, the behavior of modern devices based on 2D materials is also precisely studied. For this, the Institute of Microelectronics has a modern technology laboratory with state-of-the-art electrical measurement instruments and probe stations and a computer cluster at its disposal. Great interest and existing in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas are advantageous to complement our team:

  • In-depth knowledge in the field of DFT simulations of oxide defects in Si material systems
  • Knowledge in the field of simulation of microelectronic components
  • Circuit simulation with SPICE
  • Implementation of models in SPICE or similar development tools for electrical circuits
  • Very good knowledge of the programming languages C/C++ and Python
  • Experience in the development and design of analog circuits and entire hardware/software solutions
  • Experience with FGPAs
  • Handling wafer probers and measuring devices in microelectronics
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques in microelectronics (MSM, TDDS, C(V), DLTS, charge pumping etc.)

Furthermore, the candidate is expected to be a team player, eager, proactive, and self-reliant. The candidate is also expected to present research findings at international conferences as well as to publish in international journals. The supervision of master's and bachelor's theses as well as the cooperation in teaching represent a further field of activity.

Starting Date: November 1st, 2018. The actual starting date can be negotiated.
