Sabine Eichinger-Hasenauer elected to the Council of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH)

Sabine Eichinger-Hasenauer, Professor in the field of Hematology at MedUni Vienna and Deputy Head of the Clinical Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology at the Department of Medicine I, has been elected to the Council of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).

The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) was founded in the USA in 1969. It is a leading global organization dedicated to advancing the understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of blood clotting disorders and thrombosis. The organization supports research, education and the exchange of knowledge to improve the health and quality of life of patients worldwide.

As members of ISTH’s governing body, Council members lead the Society in developing and implementing the organization’s strategic plan, setting priorities and establishing the policy framework in accordance with the Society’s mission, core values and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. ISTH Council members use their diverse backgrounds and scientific specialties to serve as ambassadors for the Society and promote ISTH, its programs and activities in their region and in the global thrombosis and hemostasis community.

In her new role, Sabine Eichinger-Hasenauer will focus in particular on the areas of "publications" and "development of guidelines".

About the person

Sabine Eichinger-Hasenauer is a specialist in internal medicine and hemato-oncology and works at the Department of Internal Medicine I of the Medical University of Vienna, Clinical Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology, in clinical practice and research. Her scientific focus is on the field of thrombosis research. She has held a professorship in the field of hematology at MedUni Vienna since 2020.
