With her innovative poster series ’Sofort Geld!’, Alina Traun, a student on the MultiMediaArt Master’s programme with a focus on communication design, was included in the selection of the ’100 Best Posters’ - a renowned competition for poster design in German-speaking countries.
Visual research on car export business cards
The award-winning series was created as part of a design research guest workshop led by Marc Damm. Alina Traun analysed over 60 auto-export business cards, broke them down into their design components and translated them into an independent visual language.
’These cards don’t follow a classic aesthetic, but focus on maximum visibility: bright colours, strong contrasts, clipart and a wealth of information. I have isolated and systematised their design elements and transformed them into my own visual language. I am interested in what happens when the supposed ’too much’ is given a new order,’ explains the communication designer.
The result is an original examination of the aesthetics, function and expressiveness of an often overlooked everyday advertising medium.
International competition with strong participation
711 entries with a total of 2,509 posters were submitted for the competition. The international jury, chaired by Hans Günter Schmitz (D-Wuppertal), selected 100 entries - including 21 student projects. The selection was made in a multi-stage process.
