"European Student of the Year" Award goes to students at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. On December 1, 2023, the Art Directors Club of Europe presented awards for the 32nd time to the most outstanding works in the field of advertising and design on the European continent. The award in the "European Student of the Year" category went to Denise Hödl, Magdalena Jo Umkehrer, Daniela Dottolo, Kevin Harizaj, Lena Heiglauer and Nicolas Graf.
As part of an Africa-UniNet project of the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalization (OeAD), a cooperation between the Nkumba University in Uganda, the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences started in June. The opening excursion to Uganda has now taken place, promoting scientific exchange between the project team, local farmers and best-practice companies.
The Colorum project is intended to offer opportunities for encounters and invite people to rediscover the city together, pause for a moment and take a seat. Emin Music, a graduate of the Design & Product Management degree programme at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, impressed the jury of the BIG SEE Product Design Award 2023 in the Urban Design category with his creative seating furniture for the city of Hallein.
"Whose planet is it?" - This is the motto of the second Sustainability Week at FH Salzburg. Daily keynote speeches and discussions will take place during the week of November 20-24, 2023. The week will conclude on Friday with workshops and a world café.
The FH Salzburg promotes equal participation and equal opportunities in all diversity dimensions. This also includes the area of women's advancement. In October, a mentoring programme for female students was launched for the first time with the aim of promoting female careers and preparing female students for a successful career.
On November 23, 2023 (10 a.m. 4 p.m.), the FH Salzburg invites students in Salzburg to the "Contacta" career fair at the Urstein Campus. 60 companies from various sectors will be on site at the fair on the Urstein campus.
On November 7, the travelling exhibition on the life and work of the economist and social scientist Karl Polanyi was opened at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. The event attracted numerous students from the Departments of Business & Tourism and Applied Social Sciences, who actively engaged with Karl Polanyi's multifaceted work during the opening and the subsequent lecture on "The Great Transformation - what Polanyi would have to say to us today".
This year's symposium, which was attended by over 400 FH students from various degree programmes and departments, was held under the motto "Empowerment and Democratisation". A full programme with top speakers awaited the Master's students on Friday, 20.10. and Saturday, 21.10. at the 15th interdisciplinary Symposium Ethics & Sustainability.
Nieke Dieteren, student of the master program "Innovation & Management in Tourism" convinced the jury at the annual Best Meeting Thesis Austria Award with her master thesis on the topic of Tranformative Event Design and took first place. The prize is awarded by the Austrian Convention Bureau in Vienna.
